Women sit together for a group discussion.
2023
Abana Bacu means ‘our children.’ Through this initiative, we work with women’s groups to follow their children’s education. In 2023, with Run Town Ladies, we provided school materials for members’ children and held a session to review the school year.
Supporting mothers as children learn
The mothers we work with put a great deal of effort into their children’s needs and schooling while carrying heavy family responsibilities. Many did not attend school themselves, and many have difficulty following their children’s school progress. Abana Bacu offers practical school support and keeps attention on children’s learning.
School materials and a school-year review
Each year, we review the school year with mothers, with education specialists and teachers involved. We also provide school materials at the start of the school year. In 2023, both forms of support were part of our work with Run Town Ladies.
Parents supporting one another
We encourage parents to support one another, exchange ideas and share knowledge so children receive an education that helps them progress. Every child deserves care and support to learn, and the chance to contribute to their families and their country.
