25 November to 10 December 2025
Through Umukenyezi Iwacu, we carried the YOOOO campaign during the 2025 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence, with support from the European Union.
Seven episodes on seven forms of violence
Under the global theme “UNiTE to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls”, YOOOO sought to break the silence around violence against women and girls and explain the community’s role in preventing and addressing it.
The campaign brought together anonymous survivor testimony, specialist explanations and practical advice across seven episodes. They addressed physical, sexual, psychological and economic violence, forced marriage, harassment in schools and workplaces, and digital violence.
Supporting survivors and taking responsibility
We encouraged listeners to recognise signs of violence, support survivors without stigmatising them, speak out against abusive behaviour and help create safe environments for women and girls. The episodes reached audiences through partner radios and digital platforms, including Iteka FM, RFM, Ejo Heza FM and Indundi Culture.
Listening together on 9 December
Women from Runtown Ladies and Baho Urwize gathered on 9 December for the closing activity. They listened to episodes, discussed them with specialists, shared testimonies and wrote on a shared wall the harms they no longer want to see.
Participants asked for the campaign to continue through the year and reach every province. YOOOO made the call for help a shared call for solidarity: preventing violence requires families, young people, community leaders, institutions and the wider community to take responsibility.
