AMB sets priorities and an action plan for 2026

Ingiro Action Center held a strategic workshop for the Association of Musicians of Burundi during its 40th-anniversary period.

February and March 2026

Our strategic workshop with the Amicale des Musiciens du Burundi assessed the association’s work and set priorities for 2026.

Ingiro Action Center organized a strategic reflection workshop for the Amicale des Musiciens du Burundi (AMB) as the association marked 40 years. Our Director General, Yvette Ihorimbere, said the process would help AMB assess its strengths, weaknesses and opportunities and identify priorities for 2026. Tharcisse Ndayizeye, a professor at the University of Burundi, facilitated the work.

Participants reviewed the association's strengths, weaknesses and opportunities to set priorities for 2026.

The first day focused on organizational self-assessment. AMB President Bright Olivier Ndayishimiye described the association’s work, including supporting artists, promoting Burundian music and defending artists’ rights. Aline Munyaneza, Director General of Culture, represented the Government and reaffirmed its support for artists and for making copyright protections operational.

The workshop focused on stronger organization and more effective operations for the musicians' association.

On the second day, participants identified opportunities to revitalize AMB and developed an action plan for 2026. Diane Kamariza, Director for cultural industry development, welcomed the initiative and said the Ministry responsible for Culture was available to support AMB. Eliane Nzoyisaba of the Ministry of the Interior stressed the importance of following the association’s governing texts.
